Danel Gravett
Well awarded and exhibited ex-UP student Danel Gravett's works consist of mixed media in which she combines acrylics, charcoal, oil pastels and oil paint.
Layering is a fundamental part of composing these works and during the process she often covers and marks out certain areas to create a play between the negative and positive spaces of the work with Scrafitto.
Gravett uses various marks and colours in her work to enhance the meaning within each painting, the colours suggestive of the emotions and feelings she would like to communicate.
"These images are influenced by my history, my culture, my education and current environment. I create artworks that reflect the way I think and interpret the world around me."
Gravett has works in private collections in Sweden, Denmark, Australia and South Africa.
